The City of Starlight, Velaris has survived for eons through the Exodus, Slumbering, and wars, now standing as a beacon of art and innovation, despite the inequality and war at its northern borders. The City has a large population made up of those who came through the Portals, and continues to expand daily. Velaris does refer to the city-state as a whole, those most Velarians live in Velaris itself, while there are Velarian farms up north, and folks that have never stepped into the city proper.
The city is experiencing a slow Enlightenment and revels in cafes, art, debate, among many other pastimes. Guilds run much of the city’s businesses, providing unions for the workers. Most of Velaris population lives in the mainland, but a small section of nobility live on a walled off island known as the Nobility Quarters.

- The Bones: The Western coast of Velaris, where many shops are tucked away, as well as the Mourning Wood graveyard, the Clocktower and the black market. It is typically associate with the Thief.
- The Needles: Where many manufacturers live, focusing on forges that supoply the war, tailors, and other skilled craftspeople that will mend or make anything for the right price.
- Sunset Ward: An upperclass neighbourhood with specialty shops such as the Reliquary, and houses of older families in Velaris.
- Everchanging Lanes: The densest part of Velaris in terms of homes, the Everchanging Lanes gets its name for the houses and apartments that are torn down and rebuilt constantly with no rhyme nor reason to architecture. It also houses the Speaker’s Lane, Velaris’ most frequented street filled with bookstores, cafes, and restaurants where many meet to debate and eat.
- Sapphire Warf: home to the Mainland’s fishing fleet under the Bonheur family, the Saphire War contains fishmarkets, canneries, and ship wrights. It is typically associated with the Leviathan
- The Archives & Lyceum: Velaris’ university as well as the archives for those during the Exodus, the Archives and Lyceum hold many student, teachers, and researchers from all over Esta looking to further their knowledge. It is typically associated with the Sage.
- The Wildflower Acres: A piece of Velaris’ farmlands, the Wildflower Acres has orchards, herds of sheep, and fields of wheat that supply the city with food. It is typically associated with the Pathfinder.
- The Royal Palace: Home to the Sauveterre royal family, the Royal Palace has served many purposes over the years and is more commonly used as a common gathering place for bureaucrats and others running the city. The steward and the crown prince both live on the premises, as well as the Royal Guard. It is typically associated with Atar.
- The Noble Quarters: Walled off from the rest of the city and connected by a single bridge that only opens at sunset and sunrise, the Quarters house the High Houses of Velaris, blessed by the Primordials and control much of the city from behind their walls.
