Once known as Telemark, the Wastes are the result of the First Continental War, which destroyed most of the nation. While much of it is still destroyed and is the front for the current war, small civilisations have popped up along the edges, especially towards the west where it borders the Forgotten Isles, and the south where it meets Velaris.

The country now is largely planar wastelands, and the front for the war between Velaris and the Empire. But other settlements have popped up in the years after the disaster, including New Epoch, a new capital city being rebuilt by Telemarkian survivors.

With the planar rifts disrupting much of the earth new elements have been excavated including Hellstone. Hellstone has become a powerful source of energy, rivalling old magical systems.
